DEMONSTRATIONS, CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

It’s best to learn to cook using a hands-on approach. Open workshops and classes at local farmers’ markets in Durham, Carrboro, Raleigh, and Cary along with demonstrations at local farms allows opportunities for anyone to learn how to use seasonal elements available from local farmers.  Recipes are selected that incorporate both fresh farm ingredients and preserved harvests. Discussions about seasonal adaptations or substitutions to recipes is encouraged during the workshops.

If you are interested in having Tarheel Foodie conduct a workshop at your sustainable farmers’ market, school or local event? Send a note to tarheelfoodie at gmail dot com with dates and topics you would like us to cover and let’s talk!

‘HomeFries Cookin Team’ @ Durham Farmers’ Market   10:00-11:15

As July brings on the heat, the HomeFries Team will learn how to use melons, cucumbers and winter squash to cool off and entertain Picnic Style on the Market Lawn when the blending, chopping and mixing is complete! Recipes will include frosty smoothies, chilled soup, crisp cool salads & finger appetizers. We’ll be using ingredients purchased at the market from our local farmers for this feast.  Sign up for this free class at Durham Farmers Market website.
